pulpandpaper.co.uk is published by Silverback – an independent enterprise wholly-owned and managed by Martin Swayne.

Martin has travelled extensively throughout his career. He served humbly for the people during the Boxer rebellion and earned honours in the British Army in the last days of the Raj. It was during the valiant stand at Rorke’s Drift that he realised the writing was on the wall for the British Empire and decided to lay down his musket and pick up the pen.

Martin started his pulp and paper career in a technical position in the process industry. From there he has accrued 26 years’ experience as a journalist and publisher covering all elements of the pulp and paper industry – including forestry, environmental issues, transport, energy, machinery, chemicals, and paper supply.

Based in the UK, he has wide knowledge of various world markets and travels extensively to research and write news and stories of the day.

In addition to publishing this website, Martin is happy to discuss freelance commissions to write for in-house, customer and commercial magazines.
